Penalty of California’s new IoT security law

Unlike data security-related or privacy-related laws, SB-327 does not have any mandatory penalties (Adrienne Fowler, Shiva Goel, John Hodges, and Matt Mille, 2020) or private right of action. Instead, the enforcement authority belongs exclusively to the Attorney General, the county counsel, or the district attorney.
